I’ve never been blessed with clear skin. So when I first found out I was pregnant I was pleasantly surprised to see a glowing, clear, smooth complexion, leading me to think I was having a boy. But it seemed as soon as my second trimester hit the myth of little girls sucking the beauty out of their mothers came true. My skin was dull, uneven, dry, and my large blemish prone pores made a quick comeback. So for the past few weeks I have been embracing the serums and million step beauty regime day and night in hopes to get my skin back on track.
Grown Alchemist Gentle Gel Facial Cleanser | This is the second cleanser I have tried from Grown Alchemist and while I did really like the first cream cleanser I tried from them I already love this gel cleanser even more. It has the perfect foaming consistency when washing but it doesn’t strip the skin of its natural oils which is great. The pump bottle compared to the metal tube from the previous cleanser is a huge plus as well.
Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum | Drunk Elephant is a brand I have been testing out for a little while so I recently added a couple of their serums to my rotation. This hydration serum I have been using both night and day and so far I am loving it. This is the first product I use after cleansing and it seems to give my skin that little boost it needs before applying my next skin care products. I purchased this recently in a duo sample pack to try out before committing but so far I’d say I would purchase this full size product. It’s especially good for the cold winter months.
Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum | Part of the sample pack duo was this firming serum. I was excited to try this as I was hoping it would give my skin some much needed lifting but so far I haven’t seen a noticeable difference to push me towards buying again. I’ll finish the sample but I don’t think I’ll be persuaded, especially at such a high price point.
Grown Alchemist Hydra-Repair Day Cream | This is a nice basic, lightweight moisturizer for everyday. It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and absorbs easily. The one downfall I have for this product is the packaging. A lot of the product tends to get stuck because the tube is very stiff and difficult to mold. Overall though, this is a nice everyday moisturizer and I’ll be happy to try more from this brand.
Coola Mineral Sunscreen - Cucumber Matte Finish | I love the consistency of this sunscreen. It can be hard to find a sunscreen without an oily consistency and this one is just that. It goes on skin feeling incredibly silky and almost leaves a powder finish. It’s a great everyday SPF. I even brought this to the beach last summer to reapply throughout the day as typical sunscreen tends to make me break out.
Cocokind Turmeric Spot Treatment | A nice natural alternative to treating spot. Typically I’ll put this on at night when I have a blemish brewing and I want to combat the inflammation. If I find my skin overall becoming red or uneven I’ll apply this to my cheeks, forehead, and chin and blend in with my moisturizer and it seems to do the trick.
10 Degrees Cooler - 03 Midnight in Corsica Face Oil | This product I ended up trying when FabFitFun offered it in their edit sale at 90% off. I love facial oils and with such a high price point I was curious to see how it worked. The first few times I used it I didn’t care for the smell, mimicking superfood green powders, but now I don’t seem to notice it. This is my second bottle and it’s almost on it’s way out and I must say I really do love this oil. I see a noticeable difference when I don’t use it as it combats redness beautifully. I use this nightly to let the ingredients really sink in and to help me prolong the product, and while the small bottle does last quite a few months the hefty price point tells me unfortunately I won’t be purchasing this regularly.
Biossance Squalane & Phyto-Retinol Serum | Saving the best for last. Retinol is something I have been wanting to try for a while as I inch closer and closer to 30 but I have been timid due to the harshness of it and my skin sensitivities, especially during pregnancy. This product had been on my radar but the price kept putting me off so I was really excited that it was a free sample option on my latest Sephora purchase. So far, I have been really enjoying it and have been seeing small benefits where I have a few fine lines. This is a brand I’ll definitely be checking out more.
Farmacy Dew It All Total Eye Cream | This is my favorite eye cream I have ever used. I haven’t been using eye creams for long but I have tried quite a few already and this one really takes the cake. This eye cream is super lightweight but still feels very hydrating while being gentle around the eyes. I’m happy to have found such a nice natural product for a sensitive area. Farmacy has a lot of products I have been dying to try including a sunscreen, a new all natural deodorant, and their Honeymoon Glow serum because who doesn't want that?
Dr. Brandt No More Baggage - Eye De-Puffing Gel | One of the few non-natural products I have been using currently. This came in my spring FabFitFun box and with already constantly rolling over and getting up in the night to pee this is something I really needed. I haven’t seen a huge noticeable difference as I haven’t been using this product for long but it gives a nice tingle as it’s seeping into your skin. Pairs well with a cold jade roller too.
Hey Honey Bésame Mucho Lip Balm | Anyone who knows me knows I have a strong obsession with lip balm of any kind but this one especially because it contains propolis, one of my favorite ingredients. While i’m not new to the Hey Honey brand this is a new product for me and one I will keep going back to again and again. A nice lightweight and silky lip balm.
Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm | My favorite everyday lip balm and a product I have been using longer than any other on this list. I’m more into skincare than makeup and although I do love a natural lipstick I still find myself applying lip balm multiple times throughout the day. Which is why this is the perfect option. I go for the ‘caramel daisy’ tint which gives a warm shiny finish. Unfortunately this color doesn’t seem to be available on their website but a similar option is available on Amazon.
I have been trying different options for my growing belly to avoid stretch marks and so far I like what the multiple products provide rather than sticking to just one option.
Organic Coconut Oil | My daily go-to which is great because it’s cheap, convenient, and multi purpose. Because one thing is for sure when you’re pregnant, you need oil in more areas than just your belly. The only down side is that if I use it too consistently I tend to break out wherever I am applying it.
Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil | This is a great all over moisturizer but typically doesn’t do the trick for me for a whole day. I do like it as an option for mid-day if I am feeling tight and dry though.
SW Basics Original Cream | I actually purchased the mini size of this for my honeymoon as an all-over moisturizer and I wasn’t a huge fan but I love it for my growing belly. It’s only three ingredients which I love and it provides the perfect amount of moisture and oil without leaving a greasy residue.
